My brother Ralph is 64 today. With the passing of my parents, he has assumed the role of “patriarch” in our family. He lives in Orem, Utah with his beautiful wife, Jamie. It was fun to sit down with them recently and record some of their life recollections.
Two huge events in the life of any LDS young man is his mission call and his marriage proposal. Ralph was called to serve his LDS mission in Denmark from March 1965 to September 1967. He met Jamie in October 1968 and after a whirlwind 3 week courtship they were engaged.
I love you Ralph. Happy birthday #64.

According to Wikipedia, “tulips are indigenous to mountainous areas with temperate climates and need a period of cool dormancy [think Utah]. They do best in climates with long cool springs and early summers, but are often grown as spring blooming annual plantings in warmer areas of the world.”
Janet has learned that she can get tulip bulbs in August, put them in the refrigerator until Thanksgiving or Christmas, and then plant them for a March blooming. These photos were taken today after a rain shower. We thought we had a variety of colors planted but the early bloomers are almost all red except for this stand alone yellow.

Those sugar cookies and chocolate covered strawberries taste as good as they look. My wife can cook! When I met Janet 29 years ago, I was blown away by her gorgeous smile and inviting laugh. I soon learned she was the real deal. I thank God daily for allowing our paths to cross and that she was willing to take a chance on a small town Idaho boy. Love you babe.

Janet and I constantly acknowledge God’s kindness in blessing us with our four children. We love them and enjoy spending as much time with them as our busy lives allow. Brent, Chase & Annie have chosen well in selecting their eternal mates. Amanda, Tatum, and Luke are a welcome addition to our family. And “E”...let me just say being a grandparent is the BEST! Thanks Tassi for the photos.
